Baffled by Independent PTO

So I figured I'd be able to tell how the engne power was always transmitted to the independent PTO when I split the tractor (Farmall 340) for a clutch replacement. But darn, I can't figure it out. I see the transmission input shaft has a inner and outer splined shaft. And I see where the very center of the shaft is smooth and fits into the pilot bearing on the flywheel. But how is the power being transmitted to the PTO when the clutch is disengaged?? Seems like nothing on that input shaft would turn when the clutch disc isn't being pressed against the flywheel.

Pressure plate turns with flywheel clutch released or not. Pressure plate splines drive the outside shaft that drives the pto through gears and shafts.

The outer shaft goes in to the pressure plate and that is always urning and the inner shaft goes onto the clutch disc and that stops turning when you press down on the clutch pedal . The outer shaft is hollow and there is a gear on the back side of it and it turns a gear that is below it and the shaft that goes into that gear runs thru the bottom contour shaft in the transmission and it goes on back to the PTO unit , the unit has a clutch pack or planetary gears and a sorta of a brake band that will engage the outer PTO shaft and give you non interrupted power no matter if the tractor is moving or not

Thanks for the help. I get it now! (as stupid as it sounds, I was forgetting that the pressure plate is bolted to the flywheel...dah!)

In the picture below are two inner clutch shafts and one outer IPTO shaft. That coupling thing are two splines that are not meant to be coupled. Forget they are even in the picture.

The gear is an IPTO driving gear that drives a larger IPTO driven gear below it. It can also drive an Electrall gearbox from the top side.

The driven gear axis is the same as the PTO shaft at the rear of your 340. That axis passes through a manual seasonal disconnect, the inside of the hollow tranny countershaft, and the planetary IPTO gearbox.

It's a day later from the posting above with the picture. Even though I own the parts, I am confused when looking at the picture. I don't know what the nearby shaft and gear are. It sort of looks like a TA eliminator clutch shaft but I am quite sure I don't own one. I hope I am not confusing everyone. Maybe I need to go look at what those parts are. Kinda of wish I hadn't put up the picture.
