Farmall A/B front pulley puller

I know some folks use bearing separators to remove the front pulley on they're A, B & Cs. I would have to imagine you would need a fairly big puller to clear the pulley it's self.

I was just thumbing through the harbor freight catalog (yeah I know) and they had this guy:

http://www.harborfreight.com/cpi/ctaf/displayitem.taf?Itemnumber=3979

They say the capacity is 4 3/8", what ever that means.

know I can make my own puller but spare time isn't as easy to come by these days...

I would not buy anything like that from them, but that's just me. I
bought a nut splitter from them and the first nut I tried to split was
only slightly dented, but the tip of the splitter was mashed right in.
They don't seem to use very good steel in my experience. I do
have a HF digital multimeter that I like a lot and got years ago for
$4, so I guess you never know.

HEY THERE. WHATEVER YOU DO. DON'T USE A 3 JAW PULLER ON THE PULLEY!!!!!!!! DID THAT BECAUSE I COULDN'T FIND THE ITEM YOU SHOW THE LINK TO.WELL I BROKE THE F#$$ PULLEY %^^&%##@%$ .INSTEAD I MADE A PLATE NOTCHED OUT TO FIT THE PULLEY,THAT FIT UP TITE TO THE BACK SIDE OF PULLEY. THEN I PUT THE 3 JAW PULLER ON THE PLATE AND IT WORKED REAL NICE. BUT I'M GLAD YOU GAVE THE LINK LOOKS LIKE HARBOR FREIGHT HERE I COME.

Should probably serve the purpose, Very poor quality tools from them in my expierience. But I would say it would do the job, Wait till you put it back on , Even more fun than getting off, Good luck with your project.

I know the quality but it's one of those use it once then it may be years before you need it again type tools.

I was just worried it wouldn't be big enough.

I don"t ususally buy Harbor Freight tools, but I got one of those "free" with the hydraulic press I bought from them. I have used it with my two jaw puller to pull the front pulleys off an A, a B, and a Cub without any problems. Roger

Used just that item from Harbor Freight last week to take off a pulley on a Farmall 340 ( basically the same engine as on an A,B,C). Worked fine.

If you can't pull the damper pulley you can make a puller using a bottle jack or hydraulic ram. Most metal shops can punch the clearance holes for the 3/4 allthread. Use steel. Hal

Here's a picture of John's puller he made for a Cub. Hal
PS: Check those dimensions on the sketch to make sure they clear the edges of the damper pulley.
