2150 IH RED

I buy the Iron Gaurd thinner from Case IH. If you use the wrong thinner it won't cut the paint. I never could understand the hardner thing. Paint will get hard by itself soon enough.

If you're impatient, use an epoxy paint.

Otherwise if you can store the tractor in a warm relatively dust-free environment for a month or so before you do ANYTHING to the paint, it will be just as hard as it would be with a hardener.

Use the CaseIH thinner, the dealer should be able to get hardener, Valspar made one for CaseIH, but I don't know if it is still available. Hardener improves gloss somewhat. The main advantage is that you can make repairs the next day.

Bumper to Bumper supplies parts for some formerly private parts stores. The place I buy PPG paint is one of those -- B to B doesn't have anything to do with the paint, far as I know.

I always use enamel reducer in IH 2150. Makes it flow real nice and evaporates quite a bit better than the thinner IH sells. I think it gives you a better looking job too.

Well I bought my paint today and the thinner from Case IH, BUT they don't have the hardnener!

What Hardnener will work with this paint from O'Rilys? One of the guys down there told me just old 3M Hardnener woud woud but IDK.

Be advised that the hardener contains isocyanates, and requires a supplied air respirator system for safe use. Forget the hardener, you don't need it. The IH 2150 will develop a very nice gloss without it.
