Farmall 706, wide front

Does anybody know what horsepower Farmall 706 and wonderif it s good and strong tractor too? Thanks

years ago we had a 706 gasser. about 70 hp tractor. ran good no major problems. it was a thirsty rascal.

Good old tractor hard to break. keep glow plugs in good working order and will start every time. shifting is an issue but not a real big one just not a good loader tractor for that reason. real good cheap HP.They did put 2 different diesels in these most were the 282 later models were 310 usually these had 3 point and the 282 had 2 point not always though. everyone claims the 310 was a better motor. I have had 2 with 282"s and both were good still have one the other burt in a fire we had.

Good tractor, if it has glow plugs it has the 282 diesel. If so, check for head gasket failure, ie water in the oil or antifreeze leaks. A common problem from what I've read, but still a good engine.

my dad has a 706 LP and as you say, it is a thirsty rascal, but is a workhorse!
