farmall md throttle

You can try and find used ones but trying to find ones that do not have a play in them is hard to come by. Just the nature of the system being so many pivot points. Some of the places where shafts rotate can be bushed to take the slack out, that is what i am looking at doing to my Super MD.

i bought the thing the other day and it hadnt run in almost 2yrs put a fresh battery and fuel in it and it fired on the first try, then kicked over to diesel. the tie rod ends on the throttle linkage can they be replaced if so where could i get the parts?

International still carries a lot of parts for Ms. Not as many for MDs, but they have quite a few. Use my dealer website www.triebold.com and go the the implement section and look at the online parts diagrams. Just search Farmall MD and it will come up.
Parts will say retired if they are not available.

I forgot to say. That is pretty cool that it started up on gas like it should. These diesels don't lock up as easy as gassers due to the oily fuel. That is always a good thing.
GET AND READ AN OWNERS MANUAL I hate to see you crack the head on this thing :) I cool mine down on gas, but some say they idle cooler on diesel. That is personal preference. Mine restarts nicer if I kill it on gas so I do it that way. Also, WHEN YOU TURN IT OFF store it with the decompression lever forward in diesel so the valves don't warp.

thanks, the thing runs decent but is smokey at idle and low throttle once u get it in the higher rpm range it starts to clean up. could this be from just setting around and having alot of carbon build up? if so any pointers.

Yes it could be from sitting, once you have the manual, i would run it hard and get it up to temp at least 160 degrees or better. Those diesels are not one to idle around for long periods of time say like a gas engine would. A good hard work out would be worth the time.

i thought about putting it on a grinder-mixer to work it,the biggest thing is the tie rod/knuckle on the throttle is really worn the ball part is ready to pull out so i need to replace that but i cant find any parts that match it.

If you look at some go kart or lawn mower steering parts suppliers listed on the internet you can find a ball joint end for less than $10. Think yours is 1/2 inch fine thread both female and male ends. Double check that size though, I'm just going by memory.
