farmall h siderails

Hey everyone, the side rails on my H, can they be taken off by themselves or are they a main support for the engine? Just wondering because i would like to take them off and them only. Or do i need to take the engine out altogether to achieve this?

For what reason? If to clean, etc, take them off one at a time. Support the opposite rail.

Sorry, yes it is to clean them, I would prefer not tho have to taken anything off but them. So if i take one off at a time, just support the side that I took it off from? Put that one back on and them do the opposite?

Yes. Block the wheels all around, put a jack under the center of the torque tube, and lift only enough to support, not raise the engine. Do not move anything. JimN

You can take one frame rail off at a time, do what you need to with it, put it back on and then remove the other one.

Be careful with the bolster bolts,they have a tentency to weaken through the years
