M w/ F11 Loader - Hydro 'Squeals'

Thanks for the input on my other post re: electrical.

PROBLEM: I have a '51M, live hydro, w/ an F11 loader. It also has the 'claw' attachment, but it is currently not on the bucket. There are 3 levers. When I pull the lever to lift the bucket, it will squeal, shudder, and not lift. If I back off, it will lift, albeit slowly. It's a PIA when your movin' alot of snow, and have to finesse the lever. The tilt lever is fine.
None of the other controls have that issue - only the bucket lift. The fluid is full in the tank next to the cockpit. So that's not the issue.I dunno if it's an o-ring or something in the lever or what?

Sorry for the non-technical terms - until this M, I've never driven or worked on a tractor. A CA suburbanite who moved to Dakota Country - and lovin' it!

Thanks in advance --- ND in ND

Yup....the fluid is full, that's the tank I mentioned. My neighbor has a '49 M w/ the same F11 set up and he checked it out. Hence, my question as to where to go from here....I appreciate the response.

Hi Feller,

The inner layer of the feed hose between the "lift" valve and the main cylinder(s) tee point has collapsed inside itself and the system is dead-heading when pressure is applied thru that particular valve.

Replace the hose and you're back in business.

Oh, and while we're at it, your tractor doesn't have a cockpit nor does it have a hydro. :>)

Yes, "hydro" is not a slang term for hydraulics. You gotta spell out "hydraulics." It's a rule. :)

Seriously, "hydro" refers to the hydrostatic transmission found on certain IH tractors made in the 1960's and 1970's. It's a licensed trademark.

I gotta say, though, if you've got a heat houser on your tractor it does kinda feel like a cockpit on an old-time biplane :)

Mea Culpa -- Like I said - new to this tractor gig and don't know the 'technical' terms - so I will try and be more exacting....

So I will look into replacing a hose - I will do more research into it and get back to ya'll....
BTW - pic was obviously taken 'pre-snow'on my 1st ever ride back in November last year

Thanks for the insight --- ND in ND
