3588 overhaul: help!!

I need to get an overhaul kit for my 3588, but I am having trouble making sense out of the serial #s.

The engine has this: 467 T T2 U11703 7*

In the cab there is a serial number 05282.

These numbers dont match anything that I am told I am suppose to find, can anyone help me out?

You have a DT 466 ser num 117037. It is what they call a B series engine and they advanced the model numnber to 467 to designate that. I know. But that is the way IH did things. A 468 would be a C series.
 
That's the engine serial number, and the cab serial number.

You want the tractor serial number, which is on a shiny tag attached to the frame of the tractor somewhere. They used to be on the bell housing, but they started sticking them on the side of the transmission housing with the black stripe 66 series IIRC.

Even with the tractor serial number you may not get the right parts though. Someone could have stuffed a remanufactured DT466 engine in there, so it may not be the original engine.

Someone should be able to provide you with a rebuild kit based on the engine serial number alone!
