i ordered a set of rings for my 47 m and i got the std 37/8 bore rings but my 2 compression rings are wayy bigger than the groves. i ordered part 2c725 from this site which came from hastingsmfg. is there any reason why my grooves are smaller? i bought for a c248, but after looking at my old rings, i def have a 3 7/8 bore but all my rings were around 3/32in except my oil ring which is std 1/4in. my serial is fbk 135421xi

if ring groove width is wrong there is a good possibility that this engine has been rebuilt in the past using aftermarket parts that are not the same as original equipment. in other words tractor supply rebuild kit might use 5/32 ring width, ihc 3/16 width, and say napa uses 1/8 width, this would explain your problem. these are not actual measurements for any listed supplier but only listed as a demonstration of variations that can occur

do not see one. i just got off of case ih site and they list for the factory pistions that the 3 7/8 bore aluminum pistons is 1/8 chrome top ring, 2 3/32 compressions and a 1/4 oil ring. the rings i got and are shown to be for my engine are for the 3 7/8 bore gray iron pistons.. anyone know where i can get the correct rings cause there showing mine as retired.

Check out HY-capacity on line catalog, they list two different sets of rings for the 3 7/8 bore. Lot of imp dealers and private repair shops sell their products.

try valu built, im pretty sure they carry that ring,
if not then give these people a call they will have
them for sure.

In this day and age you need to first pull your pistons and measure the fing groves so you can get the rite set.

If you want a long lasting engine why don't you just buy a new piston, ring and sleeve set. That way everything will match and be tight. If your rings are worn your sleeves and pistons are worn to. New rings on worn pistons in worn sleeves are a poor fitting band-aid at best.

ive already thought about new sleeves and new pistons but money talks and when things are tight there tight. the tractor runs great just needed a new oil seal and it was smoking when running, and i found that the rings were stuck. so i rather just have rings installed, plus sleeves and pistons were already checked and checked out fine
