Super C touch control screen

This forum is great. It's nice to research projects before you start. I bought a 53 super c and am going through and getting all the maintainence current. I remove the touch control screen and it is/was collapsed and packed with sludge. I got it cleaned up but how do I get it straightend back out. I'm reluctant to be too rough on it as CIH shows it to be retired.

Dean, I think maybe they retired that number from the old parts catalogs, but they're still available. They are pretty dear, but if you can't find one locally, try Bermuda Ken at external_link (bless me, I can never remember if it's at) 1-866 or 1-877-FARMALL

The screen runs cross-ways and looks to be 2 inch square flange bolted to the side of the unit, with 4 bolts. The assembly is very long. When I went to clean the one on the C, it was really crunched up, that is why I opted to replace it, and the other guys are right, it is verrrry expensive.

Turns out it's fine. I cleaned it up and discovered that their is an internal spring that was partially compressed from all the sludge. It had extended by itself after soaking in the parts cleaner. Thanks to all for you help.
