International 186 Hydro

Plugs are at the bottom of the tractor, there should be at least two. You should get an operators manual for it they will answer a lot of questions.Erik..

There is one above the drawbar and one for each final drive housing. There is one more for the hydro transmission.

Eric,

Thank you for the reply. Is it a simple matter of pulling the plugs and draining the system. Hydraulics on this model serve both the transmission and 3 point hitch and equipment. Does the engine have to be running to empty the hydraulic system. I did not think the transmission would drain on its own. Does engine need to be running to refill system.

NO dont leave the engine runing when you are removing the oil or you will damage the pump. Make sure you change the filters and put new hytran oil in there only. Erik..

After you have changed the oil you need have the tractor running for a couple of minute before you check the oil level. The hydros are checked with the engine running because when in use the hydro housing is completely filled with oil. With the engine stopped the oil will drain back out of the hydro housing to the same level as the transmission.
