Battery Box

Whats the deal with the battery box? Did all H's come with one and they rotted? I currently don't have one... Is it all about appearance and correctness for show tractors? Cause boy howdy are replicas spensive!!

Boy howdy...you got that right! Battery boxes, in my experience, have a couple of issues. Battery acids inevitably get leaked from the battery and start corrosion and water always seems to work it's way in there from when they get left out. Lots of tractors out there with the bungie cord alternative. I need two full boxes currently and a lid for a third. Gonna cost me.

Sunny and clear here right about now but we had a good steady flurry this AM left about 1-2" all over everything. I see on the drive it already melted from the sun. Gotta love the way the sun starts heating things up come mid-February. Birds are already starting to sing and won't be long afore the peepers start calling over in the woods.

I think all tractors with electric start came with them. If they didn't rot away they were a PITA to deal with. Try and jump one to the battery and you will know why.
I would wait until the RPRU and buy one there. I got mine for $70ish and that was WAY cheaper than any other place I had seen them. That was THE ONLY deal at RPRU, besides Kent's Big Bars. I ended getting mine from Farm Country out of Oshkosh, WI. Good dude and great prices.

www.external_link has them for $88.50, OEMtractorparts for $86. OEM's are currently 35% off making it $55.90. Compared to most tractor parts, that is not expensive.

How much did you figure for parts and materials to restore your H?. I had over 4000 in mine.
Head alone was 400. Rest of engine 600. Tires are now 1300. And I didn't replace the clutch or pump.
