Is this normal for Farmall 340?

I"m in the process of replacing the rear crankshaft seal. I wanted to turn the engine over by hand to do something (I forget exactly what) and I noticed that I can turn the engine in one direction by hand (with the transmission in neutral), but not in the other direction. If I clamp the clutch pedal down in the disengaged position, then I can turn it in both directions. Is this normal or do I have a problem? Seems odd to me, but the tractor does have a TA that I don"t understand.

Thats normal if the T/A is good. Move the T/A handle to low setting and the engine should turn both ways. When you put the clutch pedal down all the way that releases the T/A clutch also.

Thanks for the help. The TA is still a new big mystery to me. I'm probably going to put a new clutch (not the TA clutch) in while I'm doing the rear crankshaft seals so I likely will have more questions.
