Farmall Super A or Farmall A ?

I know very little about farming equipment including my little farmall SA or A? I have tracked serial no.s in an attempt to establish a year and have come up with years 1939 to 1947. My tractor has hydraulics if that helps in determining the year. The numbers I have taken off the tractor may or may not have anything to do with establishing the year,or whether it is an "A" or Super "A" but you are the folks who will know.
Numbers: 351687-R, 22063-A, 373125R1, FAA197756, 6-21W, 1121A.

Thanks for any help you can give me.

Hydraulics makes it a Super A.

The serial # plate SHOULD be riveted to the RH side of the LH seat support, visible in the area under the seat.

Once you have the number, look over at the LH side of this page, for "serial numbers", under "Research and info".

The 6-21-w means the block was cast on June 6,1951 But the FAA 197756 is not rite for the SA which you have. The SA #s started with 250,000 in late 47 and your cast# being w should start with 3xxx,xxx. If the FAA# you took off the seat bracket it means that the bracket was changed but your engine# should be in the 300,000 plus range if the code 6-21-w came from the block. Your engine # is below the #1 plug behind the throttle rod.

The FAA 197756 would be the serial number, and would be a 1947 model A. Hydraulics would indicate a Super A, but the Super A started with FAA250001. By hydraulics do you mean the touch control system, or is it an add on wiht belt or pto driven pump? I don't know if your serial plate has been changed for some reason, Note the serial for the tractor is a plate on the seat frame, if that number was on the engine it is the serial for the engine rather than the tractor, and FAA would indicate it to be an A. Engien serial for Super A stats with FAAM.

Super A hydraulics, called Touch Control, is a block unit installed under the gas tank. It has two lift arms on the left, and one on the right.

There are no belts or hoses involved in the hydraulics on a Super A.

from your list of numbers, you probably have a Super A with some scrapyard parts that were used to replace lost or damaged original parts.

A tractor serial numbers are suposed to be the same on the engine and chassis up to serial # 201000 for A tractors. # 351687 center housing depending what the R number is, is probably newer than the FAA 197756 serial # and could be a SA. What part did the 373125R1 come from? Its probably newer than a SA.
