oval vs round mufflers

which is quieter? got a tired muffler on my 806 and was wonderin if the oval mufflers off the 56 and 66 series were a bit quieter. i'm not asking the correct police here. this is all about decibels.
thanks

Oval should have the fewer decibels because it is not a straight through muffler but has more back pressure. As for correct sorry I can not remember back that long and all the times I played on the 706/806/906s when I was a kid. Neighbor owned the IH dealer ship so I was able to sit on and play one many of those tractors back when I was say 10-12 years old. Sure wish now I had kept a bunch of the sales papers from back then they would have been a blast from my past and probably worth some nice $$

I remember years ago in pre-cab days some farmers were experimenting with running double mufflers. I can't remember now how they did it. You do what you gotta do. It might be easier to wear ear protection. I'm already deaf so it doesn't matter any more.

I've often wondered how a Flowmaster would do, at least the three chamber ones. You would have a low restriction muffler that would last forever on a tractor.
