300U hydro lines

My 300 utility has solid hydo lines to the pump and they leak at the pump. I've seen on the 350U where they have put a diffrent fitting on the pump with rubber hoses between the pump and the steal lines. I need to find that fitting with the rubber hoses.

It is either a bad Oringm a cracked fitting to pipe connection, or a cracked pipe. All can be repaired. Removing the fitting from the pipe and having a machine shop tap it for hose fittings will also work.
The steel lines can be adapted for hose connections at the same time. Good hydraulic repair shops can do it easily if given the steel setup, as is. Jim

I'm with Jim on this and most likely a bad 2 bit O-ring that needs to be replaced. Ya it could be a cracked line but not likely since those lines are made to take a lot of pressure.

The solid lines have a bad habit of cracking just where they go into the block that bolts onto pump and at the reservoir. A set with hoses are much better but finding them may be difficult. There are some repair parts that will clamp onto the pipes with a ferrel type compression fitting.

Replaced many lines on the 300 & 400 series with lines for the 350 & 450 tractors with the rubber lines. Also brassed & welded many but it was ususaly shot lived. JLE

We welded ours many times and they never held. We cut the line off and drilled and tapped the block for NPT threads. We then made up a hydraulic hose with crimp on ends. The crimp on ends were NPT which screwed right into the block. 15+ years and no problems.

I'm with the fellows that say try replacing the o-rings first. Be careful not to overtorque the screws that go into the pump, as the pump housing is aluminum. I believe it may have enough meat to hold a helicoil, but it didn't have helicoils when new.

My lines have cracked under the block that bolts to the pump I have welded them several times and seemed to help for a week or two I have thought about cutting them off and taping them for pipe fittings but didn't know if that was posible. Thanks for all the info

if your talking about it leaking at the res where the 3 bolts hold on the flange to the res, here is what i did. i purchased a sheet of rubberized oil resistant gasket material (the thicker type)and cut a gasket that fits under the flange that the two lines meet at and the 3 bolts go thru. first i threw out the orings and cut the gasket material with an exacto knife and put that in there and cranked down the bolts, NO LEAKS, aok

You could do that, but you need to make sure none the metal chips get in there. You could then buy JIC tube fittings from flared tube to male pipe threads. They come in straight fittings or 45 & 90 degree elbows. Then have new hydraulic hoses with female swivel nuts made at your local hydraulic shop. Colliflower is a good place if you have one in your area. I made these JIC hoses from reuseable swivel nuts for my garden tractor. These hoses have a single braided hose. You may need double braided hoses if there's very high pressure on your tractor. Hal
