Farmall 460 hydraulic leak from bottom of TA case

I have a massive hydraulic leak from a hole in the bottom of the TA/ hydraulic pump case. The hole is just aft of the filter and is about 1/2 inch diameter. It has no threads in it, so I am wondering if it is a case drain? If it is a case drain, what can be leaking? Could it be the suction tube to the pump?

Oh, that. I had to learn that darned lesson the hard way too. :>)

That weep-hole lets the leaking oil from the PTO input shaft seal get away so as to not fill up the housing and saturate the clutch.

There are three seals that might be the problem. The one that Allan mentioned is the rear seal for the IPTO gear. The other two possibilities are the seal between the TA carrier and the case or the the TA carrier and the sun gear. The IPTO seal can be replaced with just a front split. The other two will require the TA to come out which involves a double split.

I don't have a TA, is the carrier and the sun gear still present to drive the hydraulic and power steering pumps? The hydraulic sysstem seems to be under constant load. (Like the relief valve/pressure regulator are overpressurizing) Could there be a leak from the pump case, or is it more likely to be the seal y'all have mentioned? Any way to determine where it is from through any inspection covers? Thanks for the response. I just bought the tractor last week, and it's turning into a lot of work before I can even use it. I needed it to plow snow yesterday, but no joy.

With out a TA you still have seals inside and taking the top cover off you would be able to see where it is leaking from. As for hydraulic staying on high pressure, check your aux valve double to single action setting to be sure pins or not broke or bent allowing valve rotate too far, if that is ok, you most likely have a plugged orfice screen in regulator valve assembly.
