560 clutch problem

Hello out there, I have a Farmall 560 diesel with no torque handles. I don't know if was original or someone took out torque but last night tractor made a pop sound and the wouldn't move. can put it in reverse or any forward gear and it will rock just a little but not move. Laying under the tractor was a step down key about 3/4" x 9" long or so(with no oil or grease on it) and one end kind of twisted like it may have been coming out slowly. anyone got a clue where this goes?

I will guess that the metal is an axle key. Do not operate the unit. Operation will wear the hub extremely. Look at them. JimN

I agree with Jim. I thought the same thing as I was reading what you were describing. Sounds like a sheared axle key at the wheel hub that worked itself out. The axle is now spinning in the wheel.

That makes sense, everything else seemed to be working. I only tried it in all gears for a second or two so hopefully didn't hurt it. I will look at it tonight. Thanks much.
