tricycle front and single fronts

Will the tricycle front end that fits an M fit an H? What are the bolt hole spacings for an M and an H ? I was told by one salvage yard owner that the bolt spacings are not the same from H to M. In a recent post on this page referring to 656 pedestahl IA Gary mentions they have the same measurements from H to 1456.

Well I may be wrong about the H but I believe from the M up the are the same.

I stand corrected.

Dick, No the bolt pattern is not the same from the M to the H. The M/400/450/560 on up is the same basic hole pattern for front ends.
If you are looking for a H replacement start looking around the salvage yards, Seems to me here in the South the single Cotton fronts can be found by looking and asking around. Hope this helps.

You also ask in another post about hubs for a early M with a IH wide front. If its the IH wide front with steering linkage in front of the axle like was original for M tractors. On those the same spindle was used for both H and M tractors and they both used H size or type wheels and bearings. Not the same as a M narrow front or some other wide fronts.
