IH nut

Hello, I am looking for a puller to remove the flywheel from an IHC F20 engine. Also, a puller to remove the crankshaft from this engine as well. If anyone knows of these pullers and where to find them it would be greatly appreciated.

kind regards,

Wayne

Original tools will probably be hard to find and expensive if you did find them for sale.

A flywheel puller is quickly made with couple pieces of heavy angle iron and some threaded rod. Use the angle iron to span the flywheel housing, drill holes in the angle, insert the threaded rod through the angle iron and into the three threaded holes in the flywheel, thread nuts onto the rods and use them to pull the flywheel off.

I don't have the time time to fabricate such a tool. Expense is really no concern. I just would like to find the proper tool for the job.

It is really very quick and easy to drill three holes in two pieces of angle iron and cut three short lengths of threaded rod. You don't have the time to make a puller but have the time to search for an original puller? It does not matter to me, to each his own.

Unfortunatly I travel 5 days a week, and only have the weekend to work on this tractor. So, I am able to search for the items I need as I sit in a hotel room all week. I suppose if I can't find one I will have to fabricate one. I am sure they are rare.

Best I remember, I pulled the flywheel on a F-20 with a Sears Pully-puller several years ago.

I pulled the flywheel off a F-30 by installing grade 5 bolts into the 3 holes already drilled in the flywheel. Make the head of the bolts stick out so a really large 3 jaw puller will hook them on the outside. Make a plate to cover the pilot bearing in the crank. As long as everything pulls straight it will pull right off. As far as moving the crankshaft out of the block a block of wood and a good old sledge hammer works just fine. Now to get the bearings off the crank invest in a 50ton press.
Putting things back together requires heat differential on the flywheel and bearings. Nothing real "IH" special needed!

Ok, I guess I will give it a try. Sounds simple enough. As far as taking the bearing off the crank, I won't need to do. I am taking all the internals from one engine and putting them into a fresh boiled out block. Thanks for the tips.
