Blowing snow early this morning and the driveline on the snowblower came apart on the inside where the sheer bolt yoke rides causing the line not to have full travel, when i lifted the blower broke those three bolts that hold the pto shaft onto the pto housing. We got lucky and were able to remove all three broken bolts with a reverse drill bit. Looks like there was also a fourth bolt or possibly a peg that was broke off and someone must have broke off an easy out trying to get it out.
Question is, was there four bolts or just three and a peg? Also what was the point of bolting on the pto shaft, did they offer the large pto as an option, it just seems a little under built for the horsepower it puts out?
Thanks for any replies.

Parts book shows 3 bolts and a dowel pin.You can look for yourself on Caseih.com go to parts type in 1586 shows all the parts on the tractor.

It was not a good set up. They could bolt on either small or large shaft. It was changed later to one piece shaft in either size so now if you would need a new stub you would have to replace whole shaft.

Thanks, i figured they probably set it up like that to switch shaft sizes but wasnt sure.

I have had the tractor for about a year and it only had the 3 bolts and no dowel pin, so i guess thats the way it going to stay, not sure how to remove that broken dowel with a easy out stuck in it. I would like to switch it to the dual shaft set up when the snow melts, salvage yard wants around 900 for the dual set up and the coupler.
