1066 Gear Shift Boot - WOW $$$$

It is CNH part # 536770R1 and is described as Boot Assy for Gear Shift for Gear Drive Tractor. Mine is in pieces(just the rubber boot) and letting dust in cab and wanted to replace. They said 138.00. Four questions:
1) Has anybody built this rubber boot themselves and got any pictures and/or suggestions.
2) Is there an aftermarket supplier for these?
3) I'm wandering if this price includes the boot plus the casting around the shift levers because that seems awful high?
4) How many and where are bolts holding on that casting around levers? I can see one long screw at back but surely there are more.

Last year the clutch boot was $43--I didn't buy one. It's ridiculous what these things cost now. Wish I had the smarts to make some of this rubber/ sealer stuff.

I just priced a PTO shield for a 686 .210 dollars what the heck is that all about if they dont want to sell that stuff just say its not availible and dont put ridiculas prices on them. Erik..

woner if you could build something from gear shift boots from a car, heres a link to jegs high performance auto parts, several styles of gear shift boots. the spectre 2683 is a small boot, you could set up 3 to cover the shifters. may work with alittle farmer in-jan-u-ity.
poke here

That did cross my mind this evening. After looking this evening, I think the boot was only covering the hole and the high/low/reverse lever.

Im not sure what the boot looks like becuase i dont own a 1066. But I would think you could take some nice rubber sheet which should be available at home depot etc and take a couple hose clamps to attach it.
