Non stroker M

THe '48 M will crank and run on six volts! I found little issues with the starter, cables, battery, and even the starter switch.

The cable are 1 guage, I'm making up 2/0 cables for it.

The battery seems to have no load capacity, will charge and loadtest tomorrow.

The starter draws an excess amount of amperage. It was "rebuilt" in a pro shop. It appears to be jamming the armature into the rear bushing and binding.

The brand new junk starter switch fails to engage properly limiting amperage flow. By putting a shim between the foot pedal start and the switch I am able to make it work, but it is all loose. Looks like it is ready to fall apart.
Does anyone sell a good quality switch?

I borrowed parts from my H as I troubleshot the start system and now have an M that will crank and run at 20 deg outside.

So much for the stroker theory! LOL!

I'm pleased with my findings and will finish the repairs during the coming weeks.

Thanks for the help in the threads below.
