Farmall 560 Noisy hydraulics

I purchased a 560 here a couple of months ago and an trying to get some of the bugs worked out. The hydraulic pump squalls for about 0.5 seconds whenever you let go of the hydraulic handle after actuating the cylinder. It is quiet as long as the handle is fully actuated or not actuated at all, but if it is only pulled slightly (like to move a cyclinder slowly) the pump squalls and it pulls the engine down. I thought maybe the unloading valve was sticking so I took it apart and cleaned it up. When in the valve I found two washers under the spring, which I assume was a previous owner"s way of increasing pressure. I removed them with hopes this would fix the problem, but it didn"t help. Also, I don"t think it would affect anything, but the fast hitch has been removed. All of the mechanism to the tel-a-depth is still on the side of the tractor, but is not hooked to anything and the linkage from the handle is also unhooked. It seems this shouldn"t affect anything since both sides are unhooked and due to the differential gears the spool cannot be moved with both sides unhooked. I thought maybe it would be worth adding. Any idea what could be causing the noise?

My 560 was having the same problem when I got it and the orifice assembly in the regulatory & safety valve was plugged up with crap, mainly what appeared to be silicone from the previous owner. The screen that is supposed to prevent things from plugging the tiny orifice had been ruptured so I had to buy a new assembly. The thing is only about 2 inches long and smaller around than a pencil but if I remember right it cost $50 or $60 from the local CIH Dealer. After I replaced that, along with tearing down all the control valves to dig all the silicone out of them, everything works great, with new filter and fluid of course.

I have already torn apart the whole unloading valve assembly. The orifice is in good shape and is clean.

Even though you are not useing the fast hitch valve you need to keep the teledepth valve spool centered. Hook up the lever linkage & secure the lever to one end of the travel. Move the other linkage on the left side that used to be hooked to the fast hitch follow up rod untill the noise quits. Secure it in that position. Should keep the system off high pressure.

If the valves are the same design as a 400 (I believe they are): I have been told this is normal behavior. There is no feathering of the hydraulic control valves, they are either on or off. A partial movement actually blocks hydraulic flow internally and pops the relief valve.

fix your other issues with the system too.

The system is not constantly on high pressure. With both linkages unhooked I don't see how this can keep the valve off of center. It only makes noise and pulls the engine down under partial movement of the other levers.

If the system is not staying on high pressure your teledepth valve is centered . However, it can very well be off center with both levers, input and out put unhooked. Normally when this is done a lock out screw is used in the cover of the valve. Some one may have modified the teledepth valve internally to keep it permanently centered. This was done when a mounted picker was on tractor to lock out the hitch and keep system in neutral. It is normal for system to go on demand with a slight movement of lever as the regulating land on the spool uncovers the passage to regulator valve and more fluid escapes than can be supplied through the orfice screen but spool has not moved far enough to divert fluid to raise ports. The single action setting on the valve is configured so as when you move the lever in the direction to lower a single action cyl, an extended portion of the land on valve spool keeps the regulator passage covered and only uncovers it when valve is moved in opposite direction to raise position.
