Been looking for a battery box for my sc .I seen where are two available one is a two piece with lid and the other is a four piece . Im thing the four piece would be easier to change a battery in any ideals. Thanks

Gary, my Super C has a touch control unit and that in essence is the front of the multi piece battery box. There is a special closure piece for the front if the tractor doesn't have a touch control unit. The back of the box would be the front side of the instrument panel. The two side pieces then make up the box along with the top. It is not an easy chore to replace a battery in either of the boxes as it won't come out without pulling some cotter pins and removing some of the various linkages that run along either side of the battery. It is not all that difficult but not like on a H or M series tractors. I believe there is a serial number break where the box construction was revised but my parts catalog is a couple of hours away at present. I'm sure someone will add to this with additional information and comments. That is what I recall when I changed batteries a few years ago.

Gary .Looking at my book there is a serial number break any thing below serial no.176522 had a one peace box and after had a four peace box.The one peace box is listed for 94.50 with a lid and the four peace box is listed for 149.50. Erik..

I do not think these will interchange so you should verify the serial number vs. the box required. The later SC's with two point hitch as well as the 200 used the 3 piece box.

You're right, Hal, it can be a tight fit through there to slip a battery in or out. On my '51, I've got it down pretty well, and can slip a Group 1 6v down and out (or up and in) on the starboard side without having to remove anything other than the cover and right-side panel of the box. BUT -- I don't have the linkage for the remote hydraulics. That could make for a whole different scenario.

Scotty, As I recall it would have involved more effort taking it out the right side and the linkage and hydraulic hoses running from the remote valve might have been the reason. The linkage I removed on the left side I recall as just being simple pull some cotter pins and move some rods out of the way. I really like the fast hitch and have several implements which I use with the tractor, Hal.
