UD9 power unit

Can one of you guys tell me the difference between a UD9 and UD9A power unit? Would any one have one for sale running or not?

The 335 cubic inch engine was also used in the WD-9, WDR-9 and TD-9. The 350 cubic inch engine was also used in the Super WD-9, Super WDR-9, TD-9-A, 600 and 650.

Harold don't know all I would like to about 9 engines but Think the UD9A came as a 335. Don't know all the changes made. From what I can pick up the cylinder head numbers and some other changes were made to have more HP than a regular UD9.

D Slater,

I have a 1956 power unit specifications and it lists 350 cubic inches for the UD-9-A. I think the UD-9-A series was introduced in 1953 or 1954 so maby they changed to the 350 sometime midway during the production run of the unit.

I posted on forum original version but it did not show up here on modern view. I have 1956 power unit specs that show 350 cubic inch. I think the UD9A came out in 53 or 54 so I assume they changed from 335 to 350 sometime midway during the UD9A production run.

Looks like different information in IH publications. 1964 printing only lists a 9A as 335. Early 9A engines show the same sleeve as a 9 tractor. Think the UD9A was first built before 1953, starting at serial # 21501. Have no idea about latter 9A changes.

Done some checking, Looks like the UD9A was made 1949 to 1953. 9 was hard to read on the 49, but pretty sure thats what it was.
