Why does the on/off switch on a Cub with a mag. just have one terminal while one with a distributer has two posts? How do you hook up on with one post? Thks

The one on the mag serves only to ground the mag to stop the motor, or to break the ground connection to allow it to run. The wire connection is between the stud on the side of the mag and the pole on the bottom of the switch. Ground is reached through the switch body.

The two pole for the battery igntion makes or breaks the circuit providing power to the coil.

Yer welcome.

Distinction is that the battery ignition, two-pole switch can be anywhere. The single-pole for the mag needs to be mounted so that the switch body (of the original design) is mounted to a place like the original mount that has a good connection to the chassis ground.

A two-pole switch will work in its place with a mag, but you would need the wire from the mag going to one pole, and a wire from the other pole going to a good ground to have the same effect.
