I have a 706 gas that ran great when I shut it off. then 2 days later I go out to start it it wont start. (turns over fine) I have spark, there seems to be getting gas at the carburetor, wet in the intake like fuels going through the carb, spark plugs are dry so i dont think gas is getting to the piston chambers. any ideas? thanks

my 560 does that. Usually the carb float is stuck. I just peck on the carb with a piece of wood and it starts.

Is the elctric fuel shutoff on the carb bowl working? Unscrew it & see if the plunger pulls in when you turn th key on. If it does then the needle valve could be stuck shut. If the plunger doesn't move then either the shutoff valve is bad or isn't getting electricity.

FWIW, I was backing the SMTA in the shed this fall after using it on an auger & it died in the middle of the door. Let it sit a little bit it will start & then die. It's getting fuel to the carb so I'm 99.9% sure it's the needle valve but I've never had one just quit running like that. I have a new one in the shop, just need to take time & replace it.

Anybody have any suggestions as for something to add to the gas or put on the vitron on the needle valve to keep them from sticking? Seems like with this newer gasoline the problem is becoming worse. I have put at least 5 needle valves & seats in this tractor in this last 3 years. Carb has been cleaned. Will Seafoam help?

Are you 100% sure that your getting spart to the plugs?? . I fired up our 706 and pulled it out of the barn to get to the 806 and feed grinder and it fired off first lick . Got it out of the way and shut it off and got the 806 running and hooked to the grinder and pulled it out then went to get the 706 to pull the gravity box out with the barley in it and the 706 would not go . i was in disbelief over this and got off and popped the cap off and checked the points and not a lick of fire across them . Then i could not find where my buddy's son put the new points . So get the points file out and there was a crust over the points that the file would not cut and this was with a brand new points file .Next step was one that feel under the heading of don't try this at home kiddies and took the points out and ran them across the bench grinder put them back in and now i can not find the feeler gauge so once again barn yard engineering comes into play and a piece of furnace tin worked and it started up on the first hit . So look real close at the points to make sure that you have fire across then . this is not the first time that this has happened as the new points are plum JUNK even had five sets that were out of the box and would not fire .

the more I mess around with this I dont beleive its a carb problem. Its just hard to beleive after cranking on it for aslong as I have the plugs arent moist from fuel. I am getting spark through the wires but now i'm thinking about it the plugs arnt sparking, maybe my spark is weak?

The viton tip needles are junk. We asked the parts man if the old brass needles were available yet. Sure are---$42. Highway robbery. Should have bought a hundred needle & seats & a hundred sets of points back when they were made in the USA.
