Hmmm...gotcha all stumped, eh? I wish I knew what it was for, that's why I asked. Actually considered the umbrella idea but it is pretty heavy duty and angled so much the unbrella would have to have a pretty good bend in it. Let's hope someone comes along who knows what it really is!

That there be on of them fancy do hickey thing a ma jigs made for people like you to ask question about. See and it works just fine doesn't it?? LOL. In some ways it looks like a heavy duty Oliver type hyd cylinder mount. Oliver had a mount made from pressed steel that looks close to that so it could be just that or a mount for an umbrella or some sort of mount for a pipe that held cultivators etc. Just a few guess but I think the first guess is the best LOL

Well...OK, then. That's what it looked like but its old and I usually think of umbrellas for restored tractors. Musta been a heavy umbrella! So there's a part missing on there must of clamped that umbrella tight. The umbrella for its part must have had a bend in its pole to accomodate the angle in the bracket. Fairly interesting! Have to figure out a way to make it useful.

Personally??? I thinks they bolted that thang on there so I'd be so bumfrockled I wouldn't notice all the other stuff that was wrong with the tractor. Can't trust anybody these days.

Does it ever amaze you the condition of some of this stuff when you get it? Wires running all over the place, switches hotwired, pieces taken off and...oh what the he!!, we'll put that back on later (or never!).

Yep seen many that had more wires that went no where then they had that did do things. Still remember a few years ago buying a tractor from a guy and some equipment. Got to looking and the only way we where going to load all the stuff was to get that tractor running. It had 2 flat rear tires and wires every where. By the way it was an 8N ford side mount distributor. I set a battery in it. Took my little qt gas tank and a piece of wire and hot wired it. About 30 minutes later the guy that sold it drove by and saw use driving it around with the flat tires and I think he was probably pretty steamed but what could he do we had a bill of sale in hand

From the looks of the tab it is bolted to, it could be far from its origins. It is a quick release clamp (one half missing) but could be for a marker pole or other task. Now used to hold the fishing pole butt end. (for the big ones) JimN

Its an umbrella holder. The dealers had several models to chose from. The one model hinged atthe top of the pole to center the shade over your head. There were lots of mounts available in those yrs. The B i cultivated with had the mount on the seat support and i had the speaker for the radio mounted under the cover for great sound a;sp the piece of wire for the antenna worked well also. Radio was mounted on a board fastened to the diff housing. It was used for many yrs that way.

It occurs to me belatedly that the fella that sold me this tractor might be listening in and recognize it. If so, I hope he recognizes things said in fun from actual criticism!

Done with the disclaimer. Don't suppose you got any AV goodies over at your place I might be interested in? I bought this as a runner but it does have things it needs. I got another part I am questioning and I'll put that up on here tomorrow.

So, it looks like we got a HD umbrella stand on this tractor....or half of one anyway. Darn thing is so HD I thought it had to be for something bigger. My personal guess was a prototype GPS from the fifties using an old fashioned 8 foot satellite dish on a 10 foot pole above the tractor. Now that's a picture for your imagination!

You can buy the other half of that umbrella clamp at www.detwilertractor.com for $15.00. It might be green when you get it though.

an umbrella on an F12?

those things move sooooo fast, the wind wiping in your face, I don"t understand why you"d need an umbrella.....bwahahahaha

by the way I love my F12
