working on my smta and I am having a problem getting the hub to come out from the main clutch and pto shafts. anyone know any tricks to getting this out? have an IT manual which is about useless

If you mean the clutch there may be a bolt in the starter housing, I am not sure. Otherwise with all bolts out there is nothing holding it, unless it is rusted shut. Take a big screwdriver and try to pry it apart as the alignment studs may be rusted also. It will come loose

the tractor is split. having problem getting hub behind main cluth off this hub is what the throwout brg rides on all bolts are out (i think) there are only 3 correct?

If you have the clutch cross shaft out of the way. Screw a slide hammer or long 3/8 coarse thread bolt and something heavy to slide on it in the hole in the front of clutch shaft and bring it out. Also if you have the top plate removed from the clutch housing a prybar at rear of pto drive gear will move it out. Be careful and only pry below the gear teeth. Hardened teeth will chip off if pryed with not very much pressure. Learned that the hard way years ago.

I had the same problem with mine you should be able to see all the bolts.Use a rubber hammer or mallet and beat the snot out of it equaly on all sides, this is a common problem if the hytrans fluid has a lot of moisture. There are only 3 bolts that hold the ipto drive bearing cage to the clutch housing.
Good luck.
Paul.
