460 utility (gas)

Iam looking at a 460 utility..It does not have a TA. was this an option or a delete job? I have only seen distant pictures of it and has no pto.It has a shuttle shift..Your input would be helpful..

In 1958, Pappy sold the local city fathers a 460U as a backhoe tractor for their water/sewer utility. It had the TA-delete option, because there was no need for TA on a backhoe tractor.

Sounds like you might've found this tractor's twin brother.

It can't have a TA and a shuttle shift both. For an industrial or a loader tractor the shuttle shift is more useful than the TA -- I have never seen one, though.

One odd quirk on IH with the shuttle is the transmission is still a 5 speed but reverse is not there(it is on the shuttle shift)if you put the shifter in reverse nothing happens.

That's how it is on my 2606 industrial. The shifter will go into the reverse slot but nothing happens.

The gear or something in my tranny is wearing out and the forward/reverser lever wants to jump out gear when rolling along in a higher gear. I added a bolt to stop that.
