Hi A buddy of mine who does not have access to a computer asked me to make a request to your group. He is looking for the V8 adapter plate and flywheel spacer to fit a Farmall 400 for a V8. If any one can help you can contact Greg at his home eves 815 547 8962 or his cell 815 378 1314. He lives near Rockford IL. If you wish you can email me at [email protected]. Thankyou Mark

I have to answer your request with a question.

Were these kits ever manufactured? It seems unlikely. I suspect those who transplanted engines made their own adaptors, motor mounts, spacers, and misc parts.

Lehman Tractor is currently making an adaptor to mount 5.9 Cummins into tractors using IH 400 series engines. They are listed on eBay. They can be contacted directly, thru eBay, or at Red Power Magazine Forum.

I agree with Wardner. The adapter plates and spacers have always been custom-machined for V8 conversions.

There are just so many different V8s out there... Chevys, Pontiacs, Cadillacs, Fords, Mercurys, Mopars, AMC, even International Harvester... Each one has a different bell housing bolt pattern. That's not counting big block vs. small block.

I thought there was a kit sold years ago for this. Seems like it was for big chryslers and small block chevys. Friend of mine has an M with a 440 Chrysler. I might be wrong though.

i've seen where a chevy 350 diesel bolted right up to the M bellhousing. and the 350 gas engines had nearly the same block as the gas, so im assuming a 350 small block chevy bolts up? BTW: they used the farmall flywheel/ clutch setup on the chevy 350 diesel conversion.

I would contact Marshall Litchfield at Macomb Illinois. Don't have a number for him. He has several v8 modified tractors including a A Johndeere with a 318 Mopar. Last time I talked to him he was considering comming up with a kit consisting of adapter plate and motor mounts for Chevy into Farmall. Bernie Steffen

I know where there is a 400 in the weeks with a 318 dodge v8. Use to run, but has been sitting for 10 years.
