un-siezing an engine

I know my odds are bad, but, I just bought a tractor that has a 4 cyl Continental engine & the motor is siezed. Has anyone ever unsiezed a motor that was run siezed? I've gotten weather siezed engines freed up & running. The tractor I bought has a nice loader, good rubber & I bought it right, so, I can't get hurt. From what I was told, the tractor was low on oil, was @ an idle & stopped running, no attempt has been made to free it other than bumping the starter. I know my odds are bad & likely the engine is junk, but, has anyone ever had success??? thanks

probably nothing some new bearings won't fix. That and having the crank ground although I have cleaned them up with emery cloth.

If it was ran low on oil it may have spun a bearing. Drain the oil and see if any metal flakes are in the oil. You can drop the oil pan and take off the bearing caps and see what shape the bearings are in. If the crankshaft is scored from lack of oil you will need to pull the engine. Probably can be rebuilt. If the shaft looks ok you need to retorque those bearing caps. Pull the sparkplugs and fill the cylinders with ATF and let it soak. Hal

sure i have had sucess, but that is after a total rebuild from a bare block.this includes replacing cam brgs. also.once you pull the pan and have a look in there you will see. a motor run without oil you dont just patch it up.youll need a crank kit for sure.

Success ranges from minimal problems putting a main bearing in it with poliching the crank in the block, to full remanufacture. The ods with the expense go up when it has been heated radically, or if it ran so long W/O oil that all bearing surfaces and cam contact on lifters, and piston scoreing took place. 10% chance of a bearing replacement and polish W/O full disassembly. Didn't you post this same question in the MF forum about a MF65?? or was that a 135 either way you where told there that it is going to take a FULL engine rebuild to fix that problem like it or not low oil means bad bears, bad rings, bad sleeves etc etc etc etc

Yes I did. Sorry to bother you, simply looking for input from others. You are probably right, I'm likely looking at a lengthy rebuild or a new engine, just trying to gather knowledge from others experiences, enjoy your day.
