Farmall A Manual Lift

Long time farmall user, first time manual lift user! Recently purchased an A with levers for mid and rear attachments. The rear has 2 mounting points at top. Came with cultivator that mounts to the rear arms. First, what is this system called? Are parts available to make a light duty 3 point? How much weight can I lift with the lever and helper spring? thanks

I had a Farmall A and you could lift the 16-inch moldboard plow without too much effort. Hal

The hand-lift cultivator lifting mechanism, rock shaft and springs were much lighter duty than the hand lifts designed for plows. Even the hand lifts for the plows had a tendancy to break at the base because of the bolt hole drilled in the arm to attach it to the ratcheting mechanism. The hand lift for the plow might be able to lift 150# or so but I wouldn't think that it could handle much more without some reinforcement. Remember the hand lift is not picking up the entire weight of the plow, part of the weight is supported by the depth adjustment lever. The hand lift cultivator setup is not designed to do any serious weight lifting and I don't think I'd try it with that setup.

No such thing as a set of hand lift levers that are universal for this tractor. All lift levers are made for the implement that is used. For instance there were three different type of levers used just for the cults. The plow had different levers as so all the other attachments for that model. The exhaust lift were also made for that implement. For instance the two-way plow had a total of three levers. The single bottom plow had two. If your tractor has two levers side by side and the same length with one behind them it is for the cultivators that were available with exhaust lift. Give better detailed description and i can tell you which implement they are for.

I know this lift works with cultivator. One lever on right for rear, one on left for front. both have a large helper spring, but don"t see how a plow could connect to this lift even if it could handle the load. Maybe some looking at attachments will help. I am posting a pic that could be better, but you can see the back.

Your left lever and front parts are for a cultivator. The right lever and rear rockshaft are for a plow. The cultivator parts are for the early (very light) cultivator. Probably the same for the plow parts, but not sure.
