lube confusion??

hey guy's the lube specs and types of lubes for my IH 300 have got me baffled. i have the original manual which lists lubes that no longer exist. is there anyone good enough out there that can give me a list of each and every lube on this tractor and where to add and or check levels? from what i'm seeing so far there is a steering gear box, transmission, differential i think, a hydra touch system,
i'm a truck/diesel mech and know little about tractors and this manual from the 50s has got me confused.....thanks

(quoted from post at 02:59:08 02/01/10) is Hy-tran the all in one fluid?
Hy tran is used in everything but the engine and steering gear, steering gear would be 90w gear oil.
You may substitute any name brand hyd oil meeting MS 1207 or MS 1209 for HY Tran

hy-tran is hydraulic and transmission fluid. I suppose you could call it all in one, but I usually only hear it called hy-tran or hydraulic fluid.
Go to IH and buy yourself a 5 gallon bucket and you are done. They will fix you up with the right stuff.

HyTran is short for Hydraulics and Transmission.

Where you put it is pretty self-explanatory once you know that piece... It goes in the hydraulics and transmission.

IIRC the 300 and 400 tractors called for SAE10 motor oil with some additive in the rear end. Use Hytran.

IIRC the 300 and 400 tractors called for "Touch Control Fluid" in the hydraulic system. Use HyTran.

SAE90 gear oil is still around.
SAE30 engine oil is still around.

On the IH tractors of that era moderan Hytran is for hydraulics and transmissions with a T/A. If you don't have a T/A go ahead and use 90W in the transmission - it's cheaper.

The original owners manual for my dad's 300 called for 90W (or 80W?) in the transmission, it was later learned that the thick oil was hard on the TA, especially when it was cold out.

OK, I have a 1956 I 300 Utility, with power steering, TA, PTO, 3-point (fast hitch?). The reservoir under the seat is for power steering and the hydraulic control for hitch - What fluid goes in for the power steering and rear hitch hydraulics? Please Help? I purchased the manual and it says Hydra Touch I think?
