whats the advantage of a battery tender for keeping an 8v battery charged? is it any differant than a regular charger?

If you mean a "float charger", it brings the battery up to a specific voltage, then shuts off 'til the voltage drops to a specific level, then the cycle repeats, as opposed to a "trickle charger" which is CONTINUOUSLY trying to pump a little juice into the battery.

Float chargers work GREAT. I don't know of any units made for 8 Volts batteries, but I suppose they're out there. Do you know of a source?
