charging positive ground?

You ALWAYS charge a battery with POS from charger to POS on Battery and NEG from charger to NEG on battery REGARDLESS. Think about it, the battery or charger dont care that one of the battery terminals happens to be bonded to some huge hunk of old iron..........SAFETY NOTE its safer to make the last connection AWAY FROM the battery top where explosive gases may be present. IE If the tractor is Pos ground you could use the tractors iron frame as a substitute for the batterys POS post or vice versa for Neg ground.

Similar, if you use jumper cables its still POS to POS and NEG to NEG. If the tractor is Pos ground and the truck is Neg ground and youre jumping DONT LET THE TRUCK FRAME/BUMPER CONTACT THE TRACTOR

Also a tractor genny can charge at EITHER Pos or Neg ground once properly polarized.

Hope this helps

The question has been answered but perhaps this will help to understand the confusion

The problem with understanding charger connections to a positive ground tractor is that we are so used to jumping modern negative ground vehicles where the black negative cable of the charger is often connected to vehicle frame that we assume the black cable is a ground cable.

Understanding battery chargers (and jumper cables) became easy for me to understand when I realized that the output of a battery charger has a NEGATIVE cable (black clamp) and a POSITIVE cable (red clamp), but that the charger DOES NOT have a designated ground cable. The BLACK cable is a NEGATIVE cable, NOT a GROUND cable.

So always connect Positive to Positive, and Negative to Negative, FORGET ABOUT GROUND. When connecting a charger cable to the frame, do not think of the frame as “ground” but rather think of the frame as an “extension cord” for the associated positive or negative post of the battery.
