I am wondering how many hp a SMTA Diesel has and any other info you guys might know about one. I am getting a chance to buy one and wanting to know a little about it?

I don't know a lot about them, but I do know that if the engine or injection pump needs work, it will cost a lot of $$. Engine rebuild parts are not near as plentiful as those for the gassers and consequently command a higher price.

I had a chance to buy a SMD-TA a year or so ago really cheap. After looking it over & checking on prices & availability of some parts need and the fact that the tractor needed a lot of TLC I passed on it. The owner sold it on E-bay for 4x what he offered it to me for. I'm still kicking myself over that deal. Should have bought it & if nothingelse parked it in the back corner of the shed.

2,705 produce. If the tractor is in half way decent shape & can be bought reasonably, go for it.

I'd still like to find one. Or better yet, a SW6D-TA

SW6DTA is the wheatland or standard version of the SMDTA. Wide front end, non adjustable rear wheels, sits lower to the ground, made for pulling implements, no mounted cultivators etc. Mainly used in small grain-wheat, etc- areas. A good unrestored SMDTA will sell for $5000-$10000. Does not have to make sense to a collector.

Is 3000 to much to pay for one. It starts and runs good TA is great. tires are in great shape doesnt seam to have any leaks paint is a lil rough but ok

No $3000 is NOT to much to pay at all infact thats a steal. They are rare not many around at all.

If the engine runs good with no problems, It could take $3000 or more to make a poor engine good. No leaks, T/A good, tires good. It would probably be sold in hours or less if put on the internet.

Got 10200.00 for SMDTA that was redone that is grate price if it is all complet go for it
