Front-mounted snowblower again

I posted a few weeks ago when I was thinking weather a front mounted snow blower could be powered by a tractors hydros.
Was wondering if anyone has ever seen a front mounted blower fab-ed up so its powered off of the tractors side driven belt pulley. Thinking it could be mounted to loader arms and still be raised up and down more than one mounted to the tractors front frame. Just an idea.

Throwing snow is a little bit like baling hay. The load on the implement is variable. You need an IPTO so that you can "inch" the tractor forward while the blower is gulping down a snowbank or drift. Side mounted belt pullys de-clutch with the engine clutch. Not a good arrangement.

Live OEM hydraulic power will work under light conditions. Most tractor hydraulic systems are not capable of delivering enough power to be effective for snow blowing. If you drive a high capacity pump with a LPTO it could be done but very expensive. If it is not engineered right, it will be even more expensive. All the components have to be selected using hydraulic engineering principles. If you are asking this question, I don't think you are ready to design a system. I couldn't either because I don't know what the power requirement is for any available blower under all conditions. A satisfactory solution may only be possible with field testing.

I have worked on some. The best one I saw was a rear mount lifted with tractor hyds up front and powered by a v4 wisconson moter.Could use anything tho.I was thinking along the lines of toyota or a vw diesel. Hoss

I think a system similar to a hydro-swing swather would work. A pto driven pump and a high torque piston motor on the blower. Of course it would depend on the size of the blower. We used to build a planetary gearbox and piston pump for PTOs and high torque motors... been retired for over 7 years, so not sure what is available today, but surely something is.

The easiest and cheapest way to power a snowblower up front is to use the mid pto such as on a 4020. Then you don't have to back up nor look over your shoulder.

The hydraulic drive such as center pivot moco's is only capable of 60 horsepower. Snowblowers like everything they can get.

A guy I know modified a 3 point a 65" snow blower on a loader frame on the front of a RC 350 which he powered fom IPTO. He designed and built a drive shaft (had to reverse the direction of rotation) He also mounted a highway rotary brush on another 300 or 350. The guy is a very talented fabricator. Stuff he makes looks better than IHC stuff.
