front spindles

Hi All,
Does anyone know if the W-6 front spindles will work in the W-9 axle? It looks close but I havent pulled averything apart on both tractors to find out. I would like to run the smaller front tires if I'm able.
Thanks,
Charles

charles, here are some part numbers for the w-6 and w-9 front spindles.
for the w-9, it takes part number 58 495 da for the bare spindle, or 58 495 dc for the complete knuckle with washer and nut.

for the w-6 it takes knuckle number 59832 db or 59832 dd for the complete knuckle with washer and nut.
the w-6 uses a 3/4 nut on the axle end, the w-9 uses a 7/8 nut on the end. so it looks like the 9 series used a bigger knuckle.

i have the mccormick parts catalogs for the 9 and 6 series if you need any part look ups. glenn

Think they use the same thrust bearing on the spindles. If the W6 spindles are long enough ( don't have one to measure) you may be able to make bushings (if needed) so you could use the complete W6 spindle and wheels. Think the w6 steering arms would need to work also. Think the W9 spindles have splines on top and the W6 have a key. Is this for a pulling tractor?
