Three point hitch for H

Hello i have a 1948 Farmall H that i would like to put a Saginaw 3 point hitch on with dual cyclinders.I have read that some guys can lift a couple hundred pounds and is slow.My little International 284 diesel can lift over a 1000 lbs.Its pricey for the Saginaw hitch but i would like to get it.I would like to use the belly pump with 30 weight non detergant oil,but may have to go a differnet setup.May try to set up down pressure too.
Any advice?? tractors in good shape....thanks

I have a saginaw on my 45' M and it is run off the belly pump. It lifts very fast and has enough power to lift the tractor in the air with down pressure and a 6 foot blade on the back. Saginaw is well worth the money.

Someone on this forum has a picture of their Saginaw on an H lifting way more than it should... an entire other tractor!

Lift speed and capacity depend on a few factors:

1. How many cylinders. Two lift more than one, but two are slower.
2. How big the cylinders are. Bigger cylinders lift more, but are slower because the pump has to pump more oil to fill them.
3. How good your hydraulic pump is. A wore-out belly pump on an H will not lift much, and will lift it slowly. A good belly pump will provide you with acceptable speed and capacity.

I recommend setting up a two-way, if not for down pressure, but also for the additional fluid capacity.
