15-30 McCormic Deering Carburetor HELP !

I have a 1931 McCormick Deering 15-30 can anyone please tell me how to set the main carburetor ? There appears to be all kinds of adjustments on it, I know one bowl is for water, another is for kerosene and the other is for gasoline, it looks like 3 different carbs all connected together. I need to tho find out how to set the main bowl. I do have photos of it I could send if that would help. The engine runs but it seems as if the carb settings are off. Thanks

actually a 1931 model would be a 22-36 which came out in 1929 till 1934. it has 43/4 bore compared to 41/2 in the 15-30. also has water pump, oil filter, 15-30 had none.that 3 section carb is the one it uses also. have not seen one on a 15-30.an the serial # tag would say 15-30 but would give the 22-36 h.p. ratings. a heavy float would cause it to be flooding itself.

rustred,
You are exactly wright, the tag does list the tractors as a 15-30 but gives the hp ratings at 22-36, I did have the carb all apart to clean up the tarnish and gum inside, the float did not seem heavy at all, I'm thinking that it is just a simple adjustment of the carburetor, it runs but sometimes seem to flutter and does not want to open up wright when given throttle, almost seems to me as if its not getting enough gasoline, I really know nothing about these, I am a diesel man and hold a Cummins Master diesel technician certificate, but this carburetor with all its three bowl type configuration has got me baffled ? Thanks

ruffus, the big round knb at the top of carb is the main fuel adjustment. you could try turning it out to find the "sweet spot" so it dont stumble on acceleration. did you soak it in carb cleaner when apart, as it may have partially plugged passage.

rustred, Once again to are exactly right, there is a big knob at the top of the "big" bowl, OK I now know that is the mail fuel flow adjustment, there are two small screw type needle valve adjustments on the main bowl two ? do you have any idea's on what they might be for ? if I could find a good starting point at which to screw them all the way in then back them off so many turns that would be great or find out what there functions are ? to answer your question if I soaked the carb in a type of cleaner, I did not, I suppose I should have but I did spray all the ports and passages out well with brake cleaner which we use all the time at Cummins to clean up parts, seems to work very well. Thanks Again !
