1086 international vs. 1175 case

What is your intended purpose for the tractor?

I really like our 1086 for what we use it for because it is fuel efficient, starts easy, and is manueverable. We use it on the grain vac, 27kw generator, sprayer, manure spreader, and some use on the haybine.

It would make a very poor loader tractor due to the bad design of the shifting, and it is hard shifting. Also wouldn't work very well on something that had high hydraulic demands.

No experience with an 1175 Case, but we do have a 2590 that makes a great loader tractor with the power shift and strong front axle. It's a fuel hog, though.

1175 Case was not available with a power shift. It will only have a clutch and a mechanical shift transmission. A lot of people like them because they are simple to work on and no power shift to go bad. They also have heavy outboard final drives on the rear axles. These tractors are simple and fairly bulletproof.

Kinda depends on how you want to use 'em. In my opinion they're both good tractors. I'd compare hours, condition, and price.

Hope it's not too late to throw in my .02 here. I had the same choice a few years ago and for various reasons, bought the 1086 - no regrets. I like the T/A and the cab is better. I can also second everything Steven said. We use ours to pull a 22 ft. tandem finish disc, 4512 land plane, 1000 gal. / 90 ft Summers sprayer and 30 ft of JD 9350 hoe drills, amoung other work. The T/A is nearly priceless on the sprayer and drills. ( not much of our wheat ground is flat )
I too think the Case is a solid old tractor, but i think I made the right choice for our operation.

We have an 886 we use on the discbine and round baler. Very fuel efficient. Hydralic system ran hot in the summer. We put Case hydralic oil in it and that helped alot. We have a loader on it for plowing snow and feeding hay. It works very well for that. You can shift fine if you shift while its still rolling. If you drive into a bale, you must pull the T/A into low. That takes the pressure off the hydralic system!
