Sleeves and Pistons for 22-36

Well, here I am with TWO 22-36's (4 3/4 inch bore) but not one really good set of sleeves. The sleeves on the one are complete toast. The one that MAY be usable has undetermined compression and has some significant pits in a couple of the sleeves. The head is off and at a machine shop for valve work. Question is, do I put it together and try to run it, hoping for the best or am I most likely to have a smoker on my hands, if it indeed runs properly.
Does anyone know IF a set of NEW sleeves and pistons is available?
Thanks,
Tom

la sleeve company can build you a set of sleeves, they may be able to steer you to a set of pistons, or, possible re-machine your pistons and build the sleeves to fit. heres a link

These old beasts can amaze you how well they will run and not smoke even with pitted cylinder walls. If the rings don't snag on them and you are only going to really use it a few times a year, don't be overly concerned with the pits. I have an F-20 that had water in 2 cyls and stuck, unstuck it, honed it out as best I could, new rings and valve job , runs great , no smoke.

Usually those old engines have such thick sleeves that if you can not find suitable replacements you can have the sleeves machines to accept a thin repair sleeve. Another advantage to that method is if the pistons skirts are worn too much they can be remachined for use with a slightly undersized bore. You have to have the rings fitted then but that is easy to do.

New old stock piston/sleeve sets are available, but pricey. Justin Weber has them listed on his website. www.weberstractorworks.com.

A cheap alternative to new sleeves is to find a worn out set of 15-30 sleeves (4.5" bore) and have them bored to 4.75".

The Fordson House has lots of 22-36 parts, You might check with them, they had some sets last year.
