Block heater

I recently bought 2 block heaters for IH D414 engines. Put one in my 966 and it was alot easier than I thought it would be. Went right in the freeze plug hole and just like the instructions said, pointed at about 1 o'clock. I got the other one just as a spare but I did notice later that the size was the same size as the freeze plug in my 464 gas. Question; Will it fit in the 464 engine? I have read on here that the engine is basically 2/3's of an 806 gas engine, one being a 6 and the other being a 4 cylinder, and thank God missing that damned cast iron valve cover. Will it work or should I just take out a freeze plug and try it?

It probably will, but the water jacket may not be configured to allow installation in the 1 o'clock position, and installing it in a different position may not circulate the water properly. You need to ask at the place where you bought it.
