W-400 value

A neighbor has a W-400 he wants to get rid of, it is original and complete right down to all the badging and 6 volt system, the tires are fair but it has siezed up while sitting in the barn for about a year, I know he had no problem with it until then and was wondering what it is worth he thought it should be worth $700 is this fair.

Thanks in advance,
Denis

If it got stuck while inside a barn, it can't be that bad. I unstuck my W-400LP after it sat for five years outside. It runs fine now. I also had to loosen one of the brake housings. Not a big deal. Five bolts.

Why not work out a deal whereby you squirt PB Blaster into the cylinders and let it sit for a month. Remove the valve cover and check the valves for seizure, jack up one rear axle housing, and rock the wheel while in 5th gear, TA forward. If it doesn't move offer less than scrap price based on 6000 lbs. If the fan moves, pay him his asking price, less $100 for your labor, and tow it home. Or you can spend a little more time to get it running and drive it home.

At $700, and if it's as good as you say, I would be there with a stack of Benjamins like my butt was on fire.

Like mentioned, if that tractor is what you're describing, I wouldn't be waiting. I'd be hand'in over the Franklins and getting it home.

Denis, where are you at in MI? Send me an email if you are not interested in the tractor. I may be. Paul.
