An impossible task! (for me)

Got a new seat pivot shaft and bushings for an EZ Rider seat on my F30. The bushings had long since disappeared. How on earth does one put this thing back together? The bushings (tapered end goes toward tube, right?) will not even begin to start to go inside tube where seat pivots. I tried dish soap, silicone grease, but no luck. How are the bushings supposed to fit? Are they supposed to fit part way into the tube, or somehow squeezed together to fit into the outside bracket where the bolts on each end. The bushings are simply too big for the pivot hole. Someone must have an answer. BTW, as far as I can tell, the pivot shaft and bushings must be assembled at the same time. Bushings cannot be put in first. Any ideas welcomed, and sorry for long post. I guess I'm venting a bit.

Don't know what an "EZ Rider" is. I imagine you mean a Monroe aftermarket seat. The bushings are nothing other than shock absorber bushings, sounds like you have the wrong size, maybe the pin also. I have ordered the bushings for the letter series seats and have had no problems. A decent auto parts store may have them, also.

That's correct. It's a Monroe aftermarket seat.
Bolt length and diameter seems to be right. It's the bushings that don't seem to fit.
