John560, Just a minute, I have to nuke my coffee...ok, much better. Here's hoping folks will be kind to you as these ?'s have been asked b4. I say, "If you don't know, ask." From this wonderful board I have learned there are ~7,100+ to ~7,200+ from posters. So you see, it varies and so will the value of any 340 or any tractor/implement you may be looking to purchase/sell. And to me, it makes no 'never mind'. ?'s us fellow readers would like to know, to help you more might include: serial # to determine year; sheet metal/condition/complete; tires/matched/condition/% tread/rears loaded/wheel condition/ weights-front/rear; fenders on tractor/condition-dings/rust/holes; seat/original/condition; gauges/all IH/working; breaks/cracks/welds;leaks-what types of fluids; original six or 12 volt conversion; you stated diesel (some don't give this info) and I am not aware of how many were diesel/gas/tricycle/row-crop/wide-front-my Farmall is the 307th built-1958 w/an IH utilty axle, no power steering (it's a bear); fast-hitch/three-point/no hitch-as it may have been ordered by a municipality for mowing operations; lights/original/working/rear tail/work light combination; power steering-usually on a utility; steering wheel/condition/original/wheel cap/original/condition; hydraulics fully operational; history of tractor/reason for selling-if that is what someone is doing; manuals/service records; how often serviced; color-red & cream/municipal colors/paint condition; has the tractor had a loader-with no frame, these tractors can have substantial damage done of not worked properly. I've seen 340's posted on this site and others in a range from $500 to over $4,000. A long reply, but this is info I want to know when I look at something. Folks who just post a photo/printed ad on here and say 'for sale' COME ON FOLKS, these ads are FREE - something they don't make much of these days; give some information - I know that I should end that rant now...I feel much better. Personally, I bought a 340 row-crop (still wish I had it, for ~$2,700 (memory) w/fast-hitch blade. I rescued my current 340 from the corrupt state if Illinois (sorry folks) for far more; it has the steering issue, other wise, WOW!!...ok, the left rear needs to be replaced. I'm 52 and parts aren't like new either. I wish you good luck in whatever venture you may be undertaking here. Now go take a nap after reading this long post.

$1500-$4000, depending on condition. Anything less is probably pretty junky, anything more will probably buy a better tractor. AND you won't know what is wrong with it until you use it.

Sounds like enough coffee for A1 for one day.....The question is; Are 340 utility diesels rare? I had heard also that there were only 500 built.
