IH 484 brake problem

I am looking to possibly buy an IH 484. I drove the tractor today. I has about 3800 hours on it. The problem is there is very little if any left brake. The right brake works well. I tried pumping the left brake a few times and holding it down but nothing seems to make a difference.
I have read some of the posts here and one of the suggestions is to bleed the brakes. In your expert opinion and without having seen the tractor, do you think this may resolve the problem. I like the tractor and the price seems right ($4500). Thanks for any replies.

Yes, I would try to bleed the brakes first. Our 484 has the same problem. Bleed em once a year and it seems to be fine.

Air getting in the brakes is a "common" problem.

Might just be something simple and bleed once and be done, or more complicated.....

If the rest of the tractor is "perfect" then fixing one brake might be worth it even if it ends up being a bigger job then a simple bleeding.

Hi, check for hydraulic fluid leaks from under the dash where the brake master cylinders are or for leaks along the top of the transmission housing. The brake lines run on top of transmissision housing to under the seat and then into rear end by axle housing. Check under the sheet metal on top of transmission housing. The sheet metal cover that is between the seat and the dash.
If that is all good the bleeding the brakes will usually fix it. Do not pump the brakes without engine running.
