B engine block cracks

I removed the sleeves tonight and discovered these cracks. What is the suggested solution? It didn't show any signs of leaking before disassemby but it may have been internal. Can this be "v"ed out and brazed? Or is it a genuine ship anchor?

My take on it is that they are too severe for good policy to repair. They are at a point where deck pressure from head torque on a gasket can push them down (especially the one into 2 cyls. I believe there are both 113cid blocks around, but I would upgrade to a 123 C or SC engine (or newer yet) to gain a live hydraulic pump. Rebuilding a good engine with that much crack is just not a good idea. Repair would cost more than a different block. Jim

Anything can be repaired. It"s just a matter of money. I would look for another engine and plant flowers in that one.

That's bad. Are there cracks between all the cylinders ?

I had a block welded that had cracks similar to the middle picture, that went between cylinders 2 and 3, and between 3 and 4. I looked for a couple years and could not come up with a good used block, and really wanted to use the tractor.

The spray welding cost me $12 per inch a few years ago. The surface of the block was machined and the sleeve recesses rebored. There was a big crack behind the carb too. The welding cost $288 and the machine work was $45 (IIRC).

The repair has held up so far and the cost was about the same as a used block. Welding worked for me. I'm not sure if brazing would be strong enough.

Yes, there are at least three cracks. Each picture is a different crack. To me it is the feeling of being this far into it and not wanting to experiment too much. If I can't find another one or a C123 as was suggested, I will try to weld it and see how it turns out. Thanks to all who have responded.

Yea, that block looks pretty bad. I'd talk to mburrow about that engine he's parting out and see what you can come up with. I'd sure hate to do all that work and spend all that money on parts and put it in a block that is that questionable. You might could fix it and come out ok but it would be a big gamble. I'm sure I could fix it given enough time and effort but I doubt it would be worth it in the end. I'd still be afraid of it.
